Well....my ocd still hears contact being made at times.
Back under the car I go!

On the plus side, the aluminum shaft seems to completely cured my high speed vibration.

Dropping the car off to have the paint polished tonight.
Didn't want to risk attempting it myself, it being 30 year old paint and all.

Special thanks to Chrome99gt for picking it up for me later in the weekend while I'm away.

Back from vacation and I am amazed at how the car looks at polishing.
Elton did an amazing job - the paint is shiny again, looks darker and has depth and sparkle back.

Now that the car has about 1500km on it, I am noticing that the valve train is sounding a little noisier than i'd like.
Pulled the covers and found that the 2 center rockers are still rubbing the covers, even after my previous clearancing attempts.
I finally gave in and asked Dad for help - below is the results after 1/2 hr on his mill (should have just done it this way in the first place).

Putting it back together tomorrow, getting ready for the big show next weekend.

Been a while since the last update - been too busy out enjoying to work on it!

    Got to a few things:
Adjusted the exhaust so it no longer hits the body - was driving me nuts
Put in new steering rack bushings. Guess i tightened the last ones too much, causing their demise.

This is how they came out. fought all the way:

And the new ones in place - 40ft/lbs this time.

While I was at it, put in some rack limiters "borrowed" from an SN rack:

Handling is the same but my confidence is much improved.
The next round of work will wait for the winter:
New door hardware, window run channels and speakers/grills
    New door-to-body seals
    Drivers side hinge pins
24lb injectors (already have the right tube for the C&L)
    Stereo work
    New gauges
    And the list goes on!

Frankie, what rockers are you running? Mine is noisey as well and wondering if I should pull the covers and have a look.

    They are ford motorsport 1.6/1.7s.
Even after all the clearancing, they make some noise.
More like a rubbing/sewing machine kind of noise.
Once the rpms come up you don't hear it 😁

Had a blast out at the Dasilva racing track day.

Car performed as expected, with small brakes up front and drums out back.
Ran a 14.3 @ 98mph with this idiot behind the wheel, not too bad!
